The St. Vincent – St. Thomas the Apostle Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization with a long history of service to neighbors in need. We are an independent, volunteer organization operated by members who attend both St. Thomas the Apostle and St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Churches, We offer real support such as food, personal items, and financial aid with our neighbors who are suffering.

SERVICE TO THE POOR: To establish a personal contact between its members and those who suffer and to bring to the latter the most efficacious and charitable aid possible.

We do this by providing an Open Pantry once a week to those seeking food and personal items. Hours are Tuesdays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

The conference offers Home Visits for persons who are unable to take advantage of the Tuesday food pantry schedule.

Our conference offers Financial Aid helping with utility bills.  Call for information 574-336-3353.

Our conference recognizes the gifts of love and generosity from the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Church Community Services.

We are here because St. Vincent de Paul heard Christ's call to help the poor and was so moved that he devoted the rest of his life to restoring hope to the "least of these." St Vincent died in 1622, in Paris, after having founded several congregations to carry on his work.

We are here because Frederic Ozanam, a student in Paris, founded the St. Vincent de Paul Society in 1833. He was only twenty years old, but the society he started spread around the world in only a few years. Today it is the largest volunteer organization in the world and is active in 132 countries.

We are here because members St. Vincent de Paul and St. Thomas the Apostle Parishes reestablished the Elkhart Conference in 1995.
